Re: Spirit
@elizabethv:

I agree, Sports are utmost important in this country. So there is no surprise to see the spent on sports. But i see your point and let's hope that new innovation in technology initiated by sports will be adaptable to other areas as well. That is the beauty of technology.

Re: VR and sports
I think this is definitely one of the biggest avenues next to video games, I have yet to be able to try it out, but I would like some VR football in my life.

Re: Customer Expectations
Exactly! Having a close relationship with customers is the best way to go! Especially when dealing with their critics and things that the business is succeeding in.

Re: Spirit
@ms. akkineni - Innovation in the world of sports may not have as many applications in the real world as it does with sports. There is just more spending money in the world of sports than their is in the world of say, education. (Something I take great issue with, but that's a completely different topic.) But, if sports can drive the innovation, they might help to also make the technology cheaper, and thus more readily available for other areas, such as education.

Re: VR and sports
@Adi - The way you describe it almost makes me wonder if I'll start liking football once they bring that ability to customers. I think it will also continue to change the way calls are made and their accuracy. Football already allows for the refs to view a video to determine if a call will stand - think about how much that changes when they have the ability to see a play from every angle possible.

Re: Spirit
@Adi:

Good thoughts. Progressive approach is the basic factor to see milestones in the path of innovation. We got to be realistics and realize that there are no shortcuts either to innovation or success. There got to be a practical, progressive approach which is agile in nature. That agility acts like a check point to make sure we are still good to follow the path we are on.

Re: Spirit
ms.akkineni - Me too - that's where progress comes from! We do see that spirit among a lot of the technology people we interact with in the industry. Most are actually keen to do something that has never been done before, and push at the limits of current technology.

Customer Expectations
I think overall being close to the customer is really critical.

Keeping customers and their needs in front of anything and everyone is the utmost important thing for any initiative. Also it is good to know that BT is also focusing on getting in the path of innovation.

Spirit
NM: Why climb the highest mountain? (Laughs.) Not normally a fan of Kennedy quotes, but I like that one. It was important to us to be an innovator. We wanted to push boundaries.

I like the spirit.

Pushing boundaries and aiming high is always the stepping stones for being innovative. This is the exact righ thing to do.

Re: VR and sports
srufolo1 - As elizabethtv points out, that's where the money is. So it's the most likely to drive investment. Also, as sports broadcasters compete for rights, a key selling point for leagues is whether they can help promote the game overall -- as the leagues are always looking to expand their fan base. And the broadcasters want to differentiate themselves in terms of consumer experience as well. So there's a strong incentive in some ways, to try and create better experiences.
