I agree! You'd think that would be the most difficult and most important thing when dealing with IoT in a smart city!

@dlr5288 - Without a doubt security will be difficult to create and maintain for a Smart City. What was crazy was the other post where they talked about not really focusing on that aspect. I can't imagine why that wouldn't be a central concern.

This is another great article/interview i really enjoyed and with the useful information this is great to learn from. I also think that the common smart city framework will be great and form some kind of population in the great way. It will be a sucess i think and will generate some good numbers.

I was going to say, it's difficult enough outing IoT in a house, but yeah a whole city?!? Security will definitely be the hardest thing to fix/focus on, in my opinion.

Obviously, nothing will change if we do not try. I guess in some cases it will be educated trial and error.

I think it is going to be tremendously complex and difficult. Just trying to integrate IoT into a house can be a difficult task. I can't imagine the number of barriers that integrating IoT into smart cities creates. Then there is security which is a whole other issue entirely.

The message, though, is this: It should not prevent us from trying. Yes it will open up unforseen challenges--and the meltdown in London today underscorse this--right?

Common Smart City Framework
Every city and its citizens are unique, so converting them into smart cities is a complex task. It will be easier for the metropolitan cities to do this, but smaller cities will have to collaborate with one another, as Piva suggests.

Missed to mention one other thing in my previous response.
Thinking about how collaboration can improve city services, I also feel that there is a need to educate residents so they know what is in store for them. I don't think all of the general population has good understanding so they can related to their daily life.

Also agree with you totally about problem solving becomes less complex as there is a good chance that there may be others that may have gon ethru the same problem and worked for resolution, who will be able to help readily.
