Well.. unless hackers use AI, too, to speed themselves up.

Good point! I think hacking is more of a problem now than it ever was before.

Re: Digicel 100K
@freeze I think part of the challenge is that any sort of hacking - white hat or otherwise - still is considered a federal felony under the CFAA, which creates a disincentive for people to come forward & share any bugs/exploits/flaws they may uncover.

Re: Fiber in places where infrastructure isn't complicated yet...
@mhhf1ve, I agree. That is why the U.S. is not a leader in technology. You would think that companies and the government would want to have the latest technologies implemented and become a worldwide technology leader. For a money perspective this would allow the 1% to make even more money.

@mhhf1ve, I agree. Companies should continually use technology to look for weaknesses in their infrastructure. AI would definitely slow down the hackers.

Re: Digicel 100K
@faryl, that is a good point. They should definitely use white hat hackers. I am surprised more companies do not. It would save them a lot of money and help them be proactive instead of waiting until a breach occurs which costs exponentially more more.

It is amazing that Quinn was able to service 100,000 subscribers and half a million homes. Too bad that Quinn is not leading a U.S. company. We could definitely use his vision and leadership.

It is remarkable that Digicel provided service in an island country. I have visited some island countries and the article is correct that somem places don't have addresses or electricity.

Or the government/corporations need to create ways/incentives for white hat hackers to use their skills towards helping identify/close exploits.

Automation is used to jailbreak iOS devices, so I'd be surprised if it couldn't be used to prevent the bugs before the software is deployed. But it's a constant battle that hackers seem to be winning.
