Re: Innovative Renaissance
I've never been a huge fan of it, but it's true! They have predicted so many advancements. It gets you thinking..

Re: Innovative Renaissance
Rosie is the perfect example of automation. What a great cartoon that was. I am going to have to see if I can find some reruns to get some inspiration. It should actually be made into a movie, as it is so relevant to today's technology.

Re: Innovative Renaissance
and now we take it for granted in our everyday lives. I definitely wouldn't mind my own personal Rosie to take the cooking and cleaning off my hands.

Re: Innovative Renaissance
@afwriter Star Trek was definitely prophetic as far as technology goes. For that matter, so was that cartoon The Jetsons. I always remember watching it and being in awe of the fact that you could actually see the person you were talking to over the phone.

How much other tech did Star Trek predict? I could totally see this happening eventually.

Re: Innovative Renaissance
@afwriter That's creative thinking. If it worked in Star Trek, why can't it work in real life? That eliminates the problem of strapping something to your head.

@mhhf1ve instead of shrinking headsets down to sunglass size, why not expand them into holo-decks? I wonder if that is something that we will see in the future?

Re: Innovative Renaissance
@dcawrey I'm not sold on a lot of things these Millennials are. I agree with you. I'm not that keen on VR that I have to strap something on my head to get the most out of it. Rather just take a walk down the beach and appreciate real life.

Re: Building the Pervasive Network
Thanks for reading through and for your thoughtful responses. Indeed, it will be interesting to see how CSPs strike the balance between staying on top of innovative trends and breaking down the complexity of the quickly evolving technologies while transitioning hte spend from the old to the new.  They need to operate in "dual speed" as they rotate to the NEW.  An area that we specialized in and had to solve for in the IT world in the last two decades.

> "Who in the world wants to have a mask strapped to your head to enjoy content?"

I consider these "VR masks" as prototype devices. The "actual" commercially viable VR hardware will be no more cumbersome than sunglasses -- beaming low power lasers directly on to your retinas...

Or maybe we'll figure out how to tap into lucid dreaming.. and it'll be like Inception where users are just passed out in their own dream environments like an opium den....
