Slow telcos...
> "...the whole telecom industry is long overdue for automation. It's probably one of the technology industries that in some aspects, especially in Europe, is still quite slow in terms of processes..."

It's interesting how such a massive industry can be so slow to adapt to the technologies it enables! You'd think that a telco would be one of the first to "eat its own dogfood" in terms of being able to communicate digitally and quickly to make things more efficient and quick....

The Ethernet carrier is very interesting to me similar likethe internet that does networking and communicating via electronically etc. They both have a lot to offer for Colt.

Re: Colts Automation
I like the analogy here of it being as easy as buying a flight. The companies that are able to offer a customer experience that is similar to what they see on the consumer web are certainly going to end up ahead of the game.

Colt Talks Industry Automation
There could be a technology adoption lag here just as with any technology that makes sense, but needs a push somehow to get the concept across. It appears education is the key for the adoption of Carrier Ethernet Services.

Heh. Well, I think it depends on which airline or travel site you go to... Some are easier than others! Hopefully, the analogy doesn't extend to charging for "extras" like seat assignments or luggage.....

Re: Colts Automation
@mhhf1ve Well, maybe that's why that particular analogy was used.

With automation, service provders are going to want to enable customers to add-on to existing packages. If it is click of a button like flights are, I think there's some opportunity there.

Re: Colts Automation
@mhhf1ve I hear you there! I recently looked into one of those "too good to be true" flight offers. This airline even charges for carry one luggage, never mind the luggage you check. It also gets some pretty bad reviews for service. Sometimes you do get what yo pay for.

Both of them do have a lot in common. Let's see if one or the other kind of over comes the other.
