Re: VR
@afwriter I think that's why gaming & porn seem to drive so many technology innovations - they seem to be industries that have the money to spend with an already large audience/customer base :)

Re: VR
Let's hope consumer VR comes sooner rather than later.

I'm beginning to wonder if VR might take long to advance. Video games, for example, took forever to develop.

Re: VR
@faryl that is an excellent point and I guess a good example of free market economy. I would not be surprised if business use made it more affordable for personal use a la the iPad.

Re: VR
@adi Using phones inserted into holders seems to have driven the cost down. I haven't tried either yet though to get a sense/comparison for quality.

Re: VR
@afwriter I have a feeling this may be one of those things where a particular market or two will drive pushing the technology forward & prices down, allowing other markets/uses to benefit once it does.

Re: VR
I would imagine. I got a leap motion right when they came out and while it was cool I did not have the patience to learn how to use it so I eventually sold it off.

Re: Teaching Tool
This is a great idea for a use case. I would be interested to see any benefits or disadvantages of VR for students with disabilities.

Re: VR Traction
To get VR in every home we are going to need to see a massive price reduction on higher tier models along with a reason to have them in the home. I think if the general public knew VR could be used for more than just gaming there would be more interest in it.

Re: VR Traction
@freehe I agree. It reminds me of the console explosion in the early 2000s. This was a time when Microsoft was bringing PC gaming to the masses with the Xbox. Another consumer breakthrough is going to be needed to get VR in every home.
