Re: Billing
I agree! It would take so much hassle out of paying for so many different bills. Just to have one would make things so much simpler.

Re: Billing
I know a lot of this still has to do with the largest of customers, but I think the SMB market is going to be big for SD-WAN. Already, these organizations like to have an operator mangage things. This is going to just be another service offering eventually. Over time. Not quite yet.

Billing
Customers would prefer having one bill but don't want the hassle of switching from multiple companies to one company even if it would save them money.

For companies that provide multiple services they should provide customers with a single bill.

DIY
Some consumers are afraid of DIY no matter how easy it is to implement and deploy. Cable companies offer DIY routers but many companies sitll pay a monthly fee for a cable company provided router.

It is great that Earthlink offers a DIY model. It is not surprising that customers are moving towards a service provider model.

M&A
This type of M&A makes sense. Both companies are in the same market space and two can always do more than one. The combined companies will be able to go further a lot faster with SD-WAN using twice as many resources and reduce the time to market for future developments.

Planning
Other companies should follow Earthlink's approach for implementing SD-WAN. They took time to do R&D, evaluate other leaders in the industry and tested the technology.

Super Powered SD-WAN
I can't get over this article headline!! It makes me think of a super hero team-up movie poster. The heros are wearing branded golf shirts in appropriate brand colors and khaki pants :)

DIY vs Service Provider model
DIY seems like something that would risk being "penny wise & pound foolish" for companies that don't have the budget for experienced staff to manage it all.

Companies Uniting over SD-WAN
The Earthlink was something popular a few years ago so be wanting to be with SD-WAN is great. I think Earthlink was something like the internet or telephone customer service company.Just making SD-WAN that has many network connections to use for these companies etc.
