Re: Smart City Analytics
@dcawrey interesting point, I could not agree more as in my reality - hands on expr. in the field is must own... I would say until you learn it and do it in the IT trenches in real life... until technology passes the test in real envr. in real world... - how I see it...

Re: Smart City Analytics
Exactly. There has to be something behind IoT to make it useful. Otherwise there's no reason to have it.

Re: Smart City Analytics
We can talk about IoT all day but if there isn't proper analytics on the data it could be a useless exercise. It seems everyone wants to talk about the network, and not what exactly to do with said network.

Re: Smart City Analytics
@Kishore Jethanandani, Good points. We have street cars where I live and they are always empty. This definitely take up a lot of the road and cause traffic congestion. That money would have better been served repairing roads and bridges.

Re: Smart City Analytics
@Kishore Jethanandani, Orange is another company invading consumers privacy by taking data from cell phones to "supposedly" give transportation choices. I limit my cell phone usage to phone calls, text, emails and some internet surfing. I don't want companies analyzing my data, my choices, or my life. No one can tell me better than me - what I want now or in the future.

Re: Smart City Analytics
@clrmoney, the auto industry has not provided smart cars for consumers, however companies are testing self-driving autonomous vehicles/tractor trailers and boats. Some cars have a few smart features such as self-parking and mirrow detection when switching lanes but the cars are not completely smart.

Choices
"Datavenue is made up of four components; select, connect, manage and control."

Although it is great the Orange helps companies select the right products and services companies need to have a basic understanding of what they need, why they need it and the best solution for their needs. Otherwise the service provider will encourage companies to purchase the most expensive products. It is a slippery slope.

Connective Tissue
"In a smart city context, the platform provides the connective tissue for all the different parts that go into a typical a smart city layout, such as sensors, data, connectivity and management."

I have never heard anyone use the word "tissue" when describing technology. That is an interesting word to use.

I get it. The platform provides the support and connection for different parts for a smart city layout.
