Re: CenturyLink on NFV
That's a lot of consumers to take care of and listen to. When it comes to complaints. Very time consuming..

Re: CenturyLink on NFV
@afwriter Change is necessary, and all companies must adapt to it in order to be successful. Blockbuster, as we have discussed before, is a prime example of a company that just did not keep up. It could have been as great as, if not greater than, Netflix.

Re: CenturyLink on NFV
and that is the great experiment of our time. I think that you are absolutely correct and companies that don't keep up with these changing times will go extinct but it will be interesting to see if that theory is true and how fast it comes to fruition.

@JohnBarnes Hang-backers and late-adapters may also risk being too late to the game. Businesses, for example, that can't see the importance of migrating to the cloud in the end will probably cease to exist.

@mpouraryan, good analysis.  Transformation is truly the key, as you cannot keep your feet in two different boats, you have to move in a clear direction.

Re: CenturyLink on NFV
@Mike, very true.  But CL is developing the right balance in serving their customers while innovating on the future (ie with their third version).  The key today is to be able to "abandon the past", "manage the present", and "create the future".  If you can do those three, you have the right balance.

Re: CenturyLink on NFV
The serving millions of customers is where there is a tough balance.

It would seem CenturyLink has gotten some customers to sign on for NFV. A lot of forward-thinking organizations might see it as an advantage.

Re: CenturyLink on NFV
Absolutely @JohnBarnes--it is in the end personal--as long as we are able to make the best judgement based on the right facts (and to your implicit point you have underscored) not be swayed by the "dazzle" as showcased by Apple's latest offerings.....
