Re: 5G Fever
I understand the infrastructure required isn't going to come cheap. I'm sure we'll be talking about what's happend or didn't in a few years...

Re: 5G Fever
I'm beginning to wonder because early reports are a little underwhelming. I'm sure that there is some hidden potential in 5G that will be unlocked but it sounds like it is not going to be a huge money maker which may not motivate companies to take the risks.

Re: 5G Fever
Risk vs reward makes the promise of 5G worth it...even with the hurdles. I'm thinking there must be a really big reward coming from the future. So much hype and so many tales of 5G difficulty.

Re: 5G Fever
@elizabeth but that's the thing: if you pick up on the right next biggest thing, you can become incredibly wealthy and maybe even famous. That's enough of an incentive to get a lots of people to try.

Re: 5G Fever
@Shaunn - I think you're exactly right with this and everyone is hopping on the hype bandwagon because there's a desire for the next biggest thing, and a hope that the next biggest thing is going to make someone a lot of money. So they're really just hoping the rest of us don't notice that the next biggest thing is really just a dud, because it's all they have right now.

Re: 5G Fever
This is a good analogy and unfortunately, I think it's becoming clear that it's all too accurate. I think we are inching in the right direction but I'm starting to wonder if these problems will be solved before 5G hardware starts becoming commercially ready.

5G Fever
As of right now, 5G has more problems than benefits. It's been a long time since I've seen something so clearly underdeveloped pushed as 'better than what we're doing now'. It's like they have a new, better recipe for chocolate chip cookies, but got impatient and passed them out before they finished baking.

Re: 5G Biggest Challenge
@clrmoney If indoors is 5G's biggest challenge, then the technology is already in trouble here. Most communication by people is done indoors. It's always disconcerting, not to mention just a little surprising in this day in age, when you can't get a signal to use your phone when you're inside somewhere. It's happened to me in offices, in a library, in the supermarket, everywhere except for Starbucks. lol
