I agree, it seems like the biggest selling point for any technical service anymore is speed. At some point you have to wonder how much faster things can really get. Though I suppose to be fair, I don't know that I ever sat and thought most speeds, when they were at their top speeds, need improving on. And then they went and improved the speed and all of a sudden I did start to notice the slower speeds. A lot of what they seem to be advertising is the ability to make international calls, something probably far more used in the countries using the technology. 

Does anyone see Livebox as more hype than necessary? Or do you think people who have Livebox actually see its advantage?

The last para explains why Orange is doomed...
...like all Telcos, when faced with OTT competition. Their pace of change is glacial and their focus on each other rather than the customer. Orange's current Livebox is, well, quaint with a retro feel to usability, and inferior to all its competitors (I have recently switched from SFR, where customers exist to be abused but the box was usable in comparison). Orange are the incumbent and lead in the broadband race because of this, not because they have a better offering or box. I suspect that they will take the lead with this upgrade but not for long as their development cycles are way too long and the competition more software savy and agile.

Co-found75847, Well said. At each design meeting I would always state that we needed to focus on the customer but no one ever listened. If you don't have customers, you don't have a business. If you leave the customer out of the picture you are riding on a slow train to failure.

Companies need to go back to their original mission which was focusing on the customer, customer needs, the customers needs are the number one priority.

I agree with you both 100%.

Any company that is into services, their mantra has to be 'Customer is the King'. Often times i even experienced some decisions are purely made on this key concept though we don't buy in 100% and just because customer wanted that way.

@ms.akkineni yes, I could not agree more but many Co. this days keep forgeting it... and after they wonder why bottom line is sinking...
