Hence, descriptive analytics is important. Unfortunately, according to this article, it requires more research and resources. Predictive and prescriptive analytics would seem to dovetail, whereby prediction of what is to come requires what should be done about it. Increasingly we need data not just to tell us where we've been, but to be fact-driven fortune tellers for investment and strategy development in the future.
