Mobile Usage
As the charts shows we use mobile for a lot of things for different things and in different countries. We'll see how things play out wil there be more mobile usage or not.

Desktop Vs Mobile
there are still more people accessing social networks via the desktop today.


This is absolutely no surprise to me. It is very clear that there is quite some population that is actively using desktop / laptop for social networking. I would think with all smart devices in focus, though laptops are considered more as 'Computers' despite of their mobile nature.

Interesting stats on health here. 

I thought I read somewhere that health applications on smartphones aren't really do what they say they can? In making people healthier. It's just data people don't really actualize.

dcawrey - Not an area I have much insight into, but I would think that smartphone health apps would largely track activities and behaviors. That's going to have a limited impact unless harmful behaviors are changed. It would be interesting if anyone here has any real insight into the topic -- obviously an impportant one.

ms.akkineni - It does seem that mobile users are considerably more intense, so despite being a minority, they account for more time. But looking at the graphic, it doesn't seem that the difference is that great (in terms of users), and probably closing fast.

@dcawrey the problem is that there all kinds of health-related apps, but the person still has to act on the information given to increase exercise, make healthier eating choices, etc.

Good points. These health care apps are mostly informational, measuring an individual actions / exercise levels etc. But as you said any change has to come from the person itslef. I am not very sure if there are apps which would do good job on motivating individuals to go exercise. That would be pretty helpful.

Agree with you totally about the intense nature of mobile population, that obviously gets translated into more time.

Yes, majority of health care apps that i am aware of are geared towrads tracking one' s activity, measuring behaviours etc. I would be interested to get more information about any other apps in that domain that could be considered for more significant purposes.

@ms.H some do try to give some social incentive -- sharing one's achievement with social media connections. That way each good move earns one several virtual pats on the back that some find very validating and motivating. But you still have to at least take the first move of making that run to record it and share it with friends.
