@Joe Stanganelli with backdoors in the routers I would say numbers could be depend on the country as what I heard in some countries more than 50% routers have backdoors...

Re: XaaS
Yes. good point.
That's crazy that all this can happen because of this PEN. I don't know if that's a good thing, or not. Security breaches are obvioulsy something that can devastate the progress of the PEN. Hopefully they can figure that out and make the routers as safe as possible.
It still amazes me that this PEN can produce routers and firewalls.
Re: XaaS
@dlr: Virtual routers in particular! Routers are widely renowned among security circles as being notoriously insecure. Experts estimate 20-30% of routers have backdoors in them (whether intentional or not). And the Snowden docs demonstrated that router vulnerabilities were instrumental in NSA and GCHQ infiltration of major enterprises.
Re: XaaS
@Mike: Honestly, I'd be happy to pay for the bandwidth when I wasn't using it if I could actually get the high speeds promised to me when I am using it and when I want it.

Re: XaaS
Yes I love that too!
It's great that the changes vary in the time that they can last. Also I think it's interesting as the PEN features can act as a virtual router and virtual firewalls. I think that's a really great idea!
There's always a need for faster connection and better security and by being able to use virtual routers and firewalls, I think the consumers will really love that.

Re: XaaS
Does anyone work for a company who has started using Network on Demand or Naas?
Re: XaaS
I agree, what a great idea; 'on-demand' seems to be the newest buzzword, and what a boon for customers. I especially love that the changes can last for as little as an hour to as long as three years. I see many companies following in these footsteps...
Re: XaaS
Dialing bandwidth up or down on demand will be a game changer for the customers. They no longer have to pay for an always on, high bandwidth service when they don't need it. A good example how NFV is changing business models.
