Re: AT&T and DirectTV merge
It's always interesting to hear stories of how large databases are managed when they contain live customer data.... There are some fascinating stories behind the airline industry's booking database. All these "home grown" systems meet some NP-hard level problems when trying to sort them and merge them. Maybe someday we'll have quantum computers or really good AI to sort all this stuff out more quickly and easily. :P

AT&T and DirectTV merge
I think it is a great idea and opportunity for this merge more data for cell phones and more channels in a way and better deals for customers etc.
Pam
Thanks! I think Women in Comms editor Sarah Thomas will be speaking with Pam at some point in the near future.

Re: single truck roll
Mike, great interview! No wonder Pam is recognized as a leading woman in the industry.
Excellent knowledge of what it takes to make the merger work and to successfully implement. You can see she knows how to develop the focus (aligned to the customer), provide realistic selection criteria for decision making in implementation, and in building the new culture that works well for the employees and result in improved services to the customers. A great model. No wonder AT&T is a leader!
single truck roll
Single truck roll; good for saving money by service providers, good for customers to get things connected in one stop.
