Re: Geography?
You Welcome @Dhagar--I understand they're ready to "cut it loose" from the safe confines of Project X--which means they're hopeful (if anyone has any further developments, please share)--I also will be keen to see the community sharing their thoughts on the latest that Facebook is up to in that vain.

Re: Geography?
Even low earth orbit satellites suffer from significant lag times-- due to the physics of sending a signal to space and back. For some applications it's not a problem but for real-time communication it's not ideal. Also, the whole point of developing wireless drones (or balloons) is to get away from expensive orbiting hardware that can't be upgraded easily.

Re: Geography?
Loon looks really promising, but I haven't seen how the project will deal with FAA regulations in N America? I wonder if Loon is legally possible in the US?

Re: Geography?
I hope we can work to assess this in the new year--in the aftermath of the onslaught we're all being subjected to at #CES2017. :)

Re: Geography?
Is CES still a thing really? I'm thinking Mobile World Congress is a bigger event... CES has spread itself out.. and Apple and Microsoft don't even participate at it.

Re: Geography?
Just becasue Apple & Microsoft are not there does not mean that it is not impactful--what is being rolled out, for instance, by the likes of Asus, Lenovo et. al--should give them a moment of pause at least.

Re: Geography?
Sure. Apple and Microsoft's absence from CES doesn't mean CES isn't important or impactful, but I'm not so sure CES is quite as important as certain press releases make it out to be, either.

Can you name a product or service or concept launched at CES that you think was really important or impactful?

Re: Geography?
Since you were nice enough to ask, I view what Lenovo has done to be very interesting (that all can go and check on) as just one example.    I can understand your skepticism, though.
