Re: 2017 Transformation
At home our first choice always has been Netflix for very long time. We do rotate to different options for regional choices from time to time.

Re: Transformation for 2017
It surely is interesting to know that you never used Netflix so far. Only reason i say so is because it is one of the old ones which ahs been around for long time when there were not many choices in past.

Re: Transformation for 2017
@elizabethv There are some interesting services coming along, serving niche markets that could be real revenue generators.

One example is the 60 Minutes streaming service. It's 99 cents a month or $9.99 for the whole year and allows you to watch whichever segments you want to whenever. Also has access to the entire archive of segments. Seems like a good deal.

@dc We seem to be adding more (no rotating services). We're still far from paying as much as for cable, but the costs are adding up.

@JohnBarnes - Is the future you are imagining kind of an offshoot of Neil Patrick Harris' creation of Dr. Horrible? Which is now on Netflix, but originially streamed indpendently. Would these people potentially be launching their own original series on a platform like YouTube? Or have their own? Just curious about what your thoughts are.

Re: Transformation for 2017
@Mike - Original content geared towards other cultures would be really interesting? Would they play it safe and try to appeal to British audiences? Or take some risk and perhaps create a tele nova? I almost think I would want to watch whatever they came up with just to see how they did. I would hazard a guess that Netflix won't completely flop in other countries though, their name is too big here for people not to at least give it a chance elsewhere.

Re: Transformation for 2017
@dcawrey - I don't rotate per se, but I have and use Amazon, Netflix, Hulu and Sling. Though I'm not as impressed with Sling as I wanted to be. Ideally I was hoping I'd be able to watch new episodes of the Walking Dead with it, while offering my kids a chance to watch something other than the required daily viewings of Bubble Guppies and Paw Patrol. In the end, it just hasn't been worth it. I can only watch the Walking Dead after it's originally aired, and because you have to have the app downloaded, I can't watch it on my work computers. Which means I'm forced to watch it from my phone where I really have to pay attention to my data usage. My husband doesn't like it at all, for whatever grumpy reasons he might have. And with the commercials, I'm not as big a fan of having my kids watch it as I thought I'd be. If I were going to churn through any of the services I use, Sling would be it.

Not in 2017, but soon ...
I'm wondering how soon some production companies will begin to "cord cut from the other end" -- i.e. start distributing direct one-on-one to consumers. Distributors, networks, cable channels and OTT services have long held the whip hand on production companies and often haven't used it kindly or wisely.

There's going to be a startup something like the coop publishers*, maybe a bit like United Artists (which is how the Hollywood stars broke the first studio system -- UA is just another corporation today but look up its origins for an interesting story), perhaps a bit like Dramatists Publishing (which was and is how many playwrights bypass Samuel French), maybe something like the web-radio/concert promoters. Not this year but soon, you'll probably be able to buy some video direct from producers as a routine thing. (And note that for all of the examples I cite, there was a long startup period when everyone agreed it would never work and wouldn't happen. And in every case -- it did.)

2017 Transformation
I actually can not wait for the year 2017.  I know there is going to be some great video services available.  I personally rotate through a few different video services as of right now.  My rotation is between Netflix, Amazon Prime Video (I really love this one and I have it because I am a Prime member) and Hulu.   What is your rotation?  I know they are mentioning new and updated services for 2017, but I certainly hope they keep the older video services too.
