Re: VR
@Elizabeth, that is a great point. I wonder if some companies are banking on the fact that people equate quality with price and charging a little extra. I'm sure they exist, but it would be interesting to do side by side comparisons of some of the top models and find the best value in an increasingly competitive market.

Re: VR
@Adi it does look pretty cool but at 3-5K it better clean my car and cook me dinner on top of its other capabilities.

Re: DCawrey,
@Adi - Training is really where I see the biggest use for VR. I think it'll be amazing for kinestetic learners to be offered a much more hands-on experience during training. And especially with manufacturing type jobs, people in those fields are probably largely kinestetic learners anyway. With a product like Lockheed-Martin and Land Rover, there isn't really a lot of room for rookie mistakes.

Re: DCawrey,
@Adi yes, it's not just about fun and games but an integral part of planning, desigining, and training already.

Re: VR
@Adi - I suppose that makes a lot of sense. Though personally, I think if I was going to experience VR, I'd want a good quality headset. What's the point of jumping into the experience if you're just going to be looking at an 8-bit world. (I exaggerate.) Maybe if I'd experienced good quality enough I might feel I could down-grade if needed. But I feel I'd cheapen the experience as a first timer to use a $10 headset.

Re: VR
afwriter - have you had a look at the MSFT HoloLens? There's a lot of interest in using it, even though everyone acknowledges there's a lot of improvements, it really does appear to be an exciting development for the mixed-reality market.

Re: DCawrey,
Ariella - Interesting. We're seeing a shift towards VR and AR from various enterprises for training and guidance, and even design. Companies such as Boeing, Lockheed-Martin, Jaguar-Land Rover and others.

Re: VR
@adi In the past I questioned how inexpensive and light they would become in the near future but now I think the market is demanding a speedier progression in those areas.

@Adi Yesterday I spoke with Rachel Maguire,, Research Director at Institute for the Future (IFTF) about the study it produced with Dell, The Next Era of Human-Machine Partnerships' Among the features of the future envisioned is job training for all sorts of fields being accomplished on-site when needed with the help of AR and VR.
