DevOps Culture Puts Customers First
As it should. Companies will have to work hard to change their company culture. Developers, testers, engineers and other support staff will have to stop working in silos and look at products from a helicopter view and drill down to see how their work impacts a particular product or service.
When customers first launch they focus on the customer, however when they start to consistently generate a profit they forget about the customers and focus on profit.
DevOps willl produce better employees, products and services and reduces silos, duplication and errors.
Every company says that want employees who are team players but sometimes make it difficult to be a team player. Since DevOps focus on collaboration and cooperation, being a team player and having (or forcing if necessary) teams work together, collaborate, cooperate, partner will be a win-win for employees, the company and customers.

Evolved Responsibility to realizing One Office
Good to see DevOps in the spotlight for transformation. They are an important element in the 'outside-in' approach, where they directly impact the 'first touch' of customers when trying out a new service.
I see this as an evolved responsibility (long overdue) which demands the question be asked during all agile product development meetings: "How does this improve my customer's experience or make life easier for them?" Part of a wider customer-centric organisational evolution journey, along which some service providers are already well advanced.
In turn, this can be a step towards making front and back offices transform into 'One Office'. Not something which will happen overnight, but a common transformation mission can facilitate culture and mindset changes necessary to become the trusted digital service provider of choice in any market

I'm not sure if they still do it or if that was more of a "back in the day" type thing.
It seemed like Microsoft changed organizational models annually in the early 90s!

It also reminds me a bit of the reasoning Microsoft used by having their development teams work in customer support for their products after launch.
